PROMOTING THE CULTIVATION OF JATROPHA IN INDIA TO PRODUCE BIODIESEL

The new generation fuel crop that gives ecofriendly fuel

Bio Diesel crop

The oil can be combusted as fuel without being refined. It burns with clear smoke-free flame, tested successfully as fuel for

 simple diesel engine.

The by-products are oil cake- A good organic fertilizer Glycerol

ROLE OF BALANCE CLIMATE PVT LTD IN PROMOTING JATROPHA CULTIVATION IN INDIA AND AFRICAN COUNTRIES

BALANCE CLIMATE PVT LTD is planning to involve in Jatropha cultivation in INDIA by the way of supplying the technology for cultivation and other BIOINPUTS.
Besides providing the technology for the low cost cultivation of Jatropha, we can supply the following materials to initiate Jatropha cultivation.
• Jatropha curcus seedlings
• Designer Vermicompost for Jatropha
• Biofertilizer such as Azospirillum and Azotobacter
• Biocontrol microbes such as Pseudomonas and Trichoderma.
In addition to the above inputs we can provide the necessary technical advice for realizing maximum yield in Jatropha. We also help for intercropping in Jatropha.
• BALANCE CLIMATE PVT LTD will take the responsibility of establishing the following centres in INDIA that are mandatory for the popularization of Jatropha in INDIA
Jatropha knowledge centre
Jatropha inputs centre
Jatropha extension centre

Economics Of Jatropha Cultivation And Biodiesel Production. Economics For Producing 10000 Litres Of Biodiesel Per Day

This project has been worked for the cultivation of 1000hectares (2500 acres) of Jatropha. Eco Friendly Project For Carbon Trading

If 1000 hectares of waste land are brought under Jatropha, under irrigated condition, we can produce approximately 10000 litres of biodiesel per day starting from fourth year onwards. Because from 4th year onwards we will be harvesting 10000 metric tones of Jatropha seeds per year from 1000 hectares

The cost of cultivation of Jatropha curcas (excluding the land cost) for one hectare at a spacing of 3m X 2m (1666 plants per ha) has been worked out as 2000.00 US Dollars. This expenditure includes land preparation, digging of pits, seedling cost, manure and fertilizer, watering and plant protection etc for three years. Even though the plant starts yielding from 3rd year, to be in the safer side economic yield is worked out from 4th year only. The project is viable for a minimum period of 20 years as Jatropha will give economic yield to a minimum of 20 years

Botanical Features

It is a small tree or shrub with smooth gray bark, which exudes a whitish colored, watery, latex when cut.
Normally, it grows between three and five meters in height, but can attain a height of up to eight or ten meters under favorable conditions.

FRUITS

Fruits are produced in winter when the shrub is leafless, or it may produce several crops

during the year if soil moisture is good and temperatures are sufficiently high.

SEEDS
The seeds become mature when the capsule changes from green to yellow, after two to four months from flowering.

Flowering occurs during the wet season and two flowering peaks are often seen.

Early growth is fast and with good rainfall conditions nursery plants may bear fruits after the first rainy season, direct sown plants after the second rainy season

Processing and handling

After collection the fruits are transported in open bags to the processing site.
Here they are dried until all the fruits have opened.
It has been reported that direct sun has a negative effect on seed viability and that seeds should be dried in the shade.
When the seeds are dry they are separated from the fruits and cleaned.

Each inflorescence yields a bunch of approximately 10 or more ovoid fruits
